The current COVID-19 pandemic not only brought life to a standstill but also halted all regular centre activities. The pandemic brought with it sadness, despair, disbelief and helplessness. The sudden impact of this pandemic was felt even more in the lower income group and in that section of the community that depends on societal assistance. Due to the imposed social distancing and curtailed mobility, food banks were facing acute shortages of donations.
As part of Supreme pontiff of Hinduism HDH Bhagavan Sri Nithyanandan Paramashivam’s mission to give Anna Dhana to those that require help, Kailasa in Canada – Toronto completed its monthly food-drive. Sangha members of the Kailasa in Canada’s Toronto Sarvajna Peeta collected non-perishable food items and subsequent arrangements were made to deliver them to Agin Court Community Service Food bank. The sangha donated 1100-1200 pounds of non-perishable food items on Decemebr 31st and before that 500 pounds. A total of 10000 people have been fed so far during this crippling pandemic. We thank our beloved swamiji for giving us this opportunity to be of use and do this seva and make it a monthly seva activity.
